Code and conventions of radio adverts and planning of our radio trailer

Here below, are the code and conventions of a radio trailer;

  • Extracts from the programme are used

  • Voiceover outlining the narrative of the programme and sometimes posting questions which will be answered

  • They always include what channel the programme will appear on, usually said last

  • Also include scheduling of the programme

  • Advert played on appropriate radio channel e.g. young stylish bcc programme can be advertised on bbc radio1.

Below are radio trailers from other documentaries.

Below is the script we wrote for our radio trailer

From children's parties to cinema trips, even to that hidden stash under your bed, sweets are part of everyday life.

Bon bons, sour balls, nibbles and wine gums,

We all have our favourites,

So what's yours?

Tune in to Allsorts, 7pm, Sunday BBC ONE.

The channel the programme is being shown on is always said last on radio trailers as this is a code and convention.

The schedule of the show is always included in the voiceover in the radio trailer as this is important information that the audience needs to know.

The title of the documentary is to inform the audience of what the documentary is called but also to give a sense of coherence.

I have included a question in the radio trailer in order to catch the audiences attention and make them think about the programme.
